Dog Ownership

At The Family Dog Blog we commit to forging relationships with dogs that are deep, thrilling, luxurious, and attainably cool.  Like driving a Ferrari, except for the attainable part.

Get inspired.  Watch some videos.  Read a book.  Get moving.  Go!  Today!  Now!

And while you’re still inspired, do some research.  Owning a dog is a big responsibility, so you owe it to yourself, your dog, and your community to be a great owner.

A great place to start is with the American Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club, the two oldest all-breed registries in the US.  The American Veterinary Medical Association is also a good source for information.  The information at these sites is informational and straightforward, with an eye to including dogs and owners of all types.

If you’re interested in the Alaskan Klee Kai, breed standards are available at the UKC and much more information can be found at the Alaskan Klee Kai Association Of America.

We highly recommend joining the AKKAOA.org if you own or are considering an AKK.

Alaskan Klee Kai are a new breed only available to the public since 1988, and a few issues come with the small gene pool that owners need to be aware of.  The info isn’t available elsewhere on the web, and besides… AKK owners are a fun breed, too.

Join the AKK and support the breed as well as the cute dog that comes into your life.  Tell them Kitto Katsu from The Family Dog Blog encouraged you, won’t you?  They will love to know that we’re doing our part.
